Going out for a night on the town in Beijing usually results in arriving back at your hotel or apartment at 4:00am. Every once in a while its great to take it a bit slower and relax with friends during a fun and rewarding pub trivia night. Beijing has a surprising number of options for pub trivia around the city. Here are the top pubs and bars that host amazing, prize-generating trivia nights:

The Bookworm. Relax among stacks of books and feel like a genius during the Monday night trivia in the side room of the Bookworm. While the event officially starts at 7:30, the slow and relaxed pace  means you’ll actually get started shortly after 8:00pm. Arrive early to get a seat as this is the hottest, most hip trivia for early career businesspeople and students. An added bonus is that the generous host gives the losing teams for each round a free pitcher of beer. Even when you lose, you win!

Tim’s Texas Barbecue. This pub quiz is as relaxed as the location, but, hosted by a Brit the food, margaritas and trivia are somewhat of an odd combo. However, the top team usually lands a decent prize and the host even takes pity on the lowest scoring teams, giving them the chance to battle it out for the topic of the next weeks quiz. Every Tuesday from 8pm.

Paddy O’Sheas. This is one of the higher ranking pub quiz spots in town. With a constant stream of expats and embassy workers, you’ll find your competition is tough- especially on the sports rounds. Additionally, Paddy O’Shea’s has generous prizes and a fun atmosphere that draws the same crowds back again and again for the long happy hours and the great pub nights. Trivia starts every Wednesday at 8pm.

Lush. With a name like Lush, you’d think the average joe could dominate at their bar trivia but since the bar is situated int he student district you’d be sadly mistaken. Lush’s Wednesday night trivia kicks off at 8pm and you’ll be embarrassed and red-faced in the corner by 8:05. Luckily the great drink prices mean you wont be sad for too long.

Souk Lounge. For an odd combination of incredibly smart and incredibly sexy people, head to Souk Lounge on Thursday nights for their 8pm trivia. You’ll find an odd mix of people, to be sure, but a pleasant one. Trivia night is quite the event, and well worth the trip to Chaoyang Park late in the work week to experience.
