Shopping in Beijing
One of the best place to go shopping in Beijing is Wangfujing, where you can find both Chinese and international labels.
Malls and Department Stores
You will find many department stores and malls in the great city of Beijing. The one thing I especially enjoyed about them is that they’re mostly empty, so you can go on a shopping spree without bumping into crowds of people, something that is unavoidable in Western countries.
Guozijian and Nanluoguxiang
Dongcheng is one of the best neighborhoods to be in if you catch a clear afternoon in the city of Beijing. You will find many quality boutiques in the area. Here you will also find Café Zarah, which is of German origins; Lost & Found, a vintage boutique; Plastered 8, a famous t-shirt company that is based in Beijing.
Oriental Plaza Malls
The Oriental Plaza is one of those huge complexes, which includes many offices, a Grand Hyatt Hotel, plus a huge mall. In this mall you will find food stores like in America, record shops with cheap merchandise, food courts, Nautica, Starbucks, Valentino, Swarovski, Levi and other luxury stores.
Sun Dong An Plaza
In this area you will find many of the Western companies that we love so much, like Daagen Haz, Nike, FCUK or Reebok.
Pearl Market
The name shouldn’t fool you. You will find pearls here, but you will also find anything else you might want to buy. It’s a great place to visit if you know how to bargain. There are many knockoffs here, so be careful what you buy. It’s not always original.
Panjiayuan (the Dirt Market)
The Dirt Market appears only during the weekend, and you should come very early if possible. The stalls are installed at dawn, and you will find many types of goods here, so if you want crafts, souvenirs, antiques or arts, come to this area to shop.
