Beijing – Truly one of the world’s great cities!
A great place, with a rich culture and scenery that is very captivating, Beijing will leave you wanting more.
First of all, you should see Beijing’s Chinese Ethnic Museum. There are at least 55 minorities in China, and in this museum you can see a sample of the customs, architecture, songs, crafts and dances of each of them.
You should also go see the Beijing World Park, which can be found in the SW area. This is basically a huge garden, full with miniatures of the best known spots in the world. Seventeen of these spots mimic places from Oceania, America, Europe, Africa and Asia. You will also see over 100 miniatures of buildings that are famous all over the world.
China’s Great Wall is one of the most visited places in the world. Its construction was begun more than 2700 years ago. Once China was unified, this wall held off many of the barbarian attacks. This wall is the one human achievement which can be seen from space.
The Forbidden City is located in Beijing’s center. This was one the palace of the emperors from the Qing and Ming dynasties. It has over six centuries of history behind it and it has 9,999 buildings in its complex. The Forbidden City is surrounded by a very high wall (ten meters high) and a moat that is six meters deep.
The Summer Palace can be found at around 10 miles from the city of Beijing. This is the biggest royal garden still standing in China, and it has 17 great halls, sights and gardens that will keep you busy for a lot of time, plus a two tier boat which is built only out of marble.
Finally, you should visit Tiananmen Square since you’re in Beijing. Besides the political events that took place here, this square is special because it is the largest in the world, being capable of holding more than a million people.
Things to do in Beijing you cannot miss is a visit to the Tiananmen Square located in Dongcheng District, you should also do a day trip to China’s Great Wall (the man made marvel visible from outer space) and make sure you visit to the beauty of the Forbidden City.
Make sure you walk around and sample the everyday Beijing, walk its streets, enter its neighborhoods, eat at its restaurants, drink at its cafes or just sit on a bench and watch the Beijing city life go by.
