China is a mysterious and beautiful country, with a rich culture behind it and thousands of years of history, just waiting to be explored. The location of Beijing (formerly known as Peking) is in the northern part of China.

It has 18 million inhabitants, making it the second biggest city of China, after Shanghai. The city is divided in 16 districts and two rural counties. It is known as China’s center of education, politics and culture, and it was also the place where the 2008 Olympic Games took place.

Many tourists visit Beijing each year and it’s a place they love when they see it. They have the chance to visit many attractions and amusement parks. You will have many choices of great food to choose from in Beijing, as the food of the Chinese is considered one of the best that the world has to offer.

Street foods are especially one area that every tourist should experience for himself. The finger foods and the noodles sold on the streets by vendors are delicious and cheap, two ingredients that any traveler will love. If you love shopping, Beijing offers you the chance to get some great bargains. Bargain hunters and shopaholics will love this huge city, filled with many little shops.

For shopping, you should go to the Jianguomenwai district, where you can find many of the well known brands, like Prada or Gap. The mega mall from Xindong Plaza is the palce you need to be if you want to buy things at extremely small prices.

Since it’s such a big city, Beijing is considered a huge transportation hub, with 9 expressways, 5 ring roads, 11 national highways, an international airport and railway lines.
